In order to deliver the highest quality water and sewerage services at the lowest cost, Water Service will in future need to move away from direct central government control and financing. The shift to self-financing is designed to secure reliable funding to support long-term investment and promote benchmark operational efficiency. As part of this £5.2bn programme, the SIB is working with all stakeholders including Water Service, DRD and DFP to help achieve the Government’s objectives for the water sector. Our primary aim is to help deliver the key components of the Reform agenda on target and successfully establish the new institutions.
