SIB is currently involved with two programmes. One is focused on major capital improvements to the M1 and M2 motorways (including Westlink) in Belfast, including widening and provision of new intersections. The DBFO form of contract was estimated to have reduced the whole life cost of the scheme by 20% compared to conventional procurement and maintenance. The other is dealing with the completion of the dualling of the A1 from Sprucefield to the border (together with junction and other safety improvements) and of the A4 between Dungannon and Ballygawley. In both instances, SIB provides advice and support to the project teams.
