The main focus of SIB’s work will be to support DOE in the funding and delivery of the infrastructure required to meet the municipal solid waste bio-diversion targets in the EU Landfill Directive and related legislation. Challenges made all the more difficult due to the continuing increase in the volume of waste being generated. In helping prepare a new strategy, we jointly commissioned a cost modelling exercise which will form the basis for detailed financial modelling and affordability analyses. We have also engaged directly with regional groups on specific pre-procurement and procurement activity. SIB has set up and is part-funding (50%) the Programme Delivery Support Unit within DOE.
